The Mind-Body Connection: Part 3 – Thyroid Problems

Thyroid ProblemsIn this article I will discuss some of the underlying metaphysical (non-physical) factors that may be contributing towards thyroid problems, as well as the new thought patterns (affirmations) to use for reprogramming the subconscious mind.

Thyroid Problems
The throat area, including the thyroid, is the centre of expression and creativity, and in order for the thyroid to remain balanced and healthy, it is imperative that you allow yourself permission to live your life the way that you want. If there is limited expression of your soul’s desires, or a disconnect from your life’s purpose, the thyroid functions become compromised. You may feel restricted and as though you never get to do what you want to do. Perhaps you are constantly trying to please others by carrying their burdens and worries. You may feel an inability to speak out, feel repressed, humiliated, or experience emotional instability. You may constantly be playing a game of guilt and punishment. Sabotaging yourself. A feeling of “I never get to do what I want to do. When is it going to be my turn?” This causes you to feel hopeless and give up on expressing what you want causing hypothyroidism; or, you become enraged as a result of losing control of your life which causes hyperthyroidism. You need to honour what your heart is telling you to do and follow your dreams by taking steps, however small, to make them a reality. Experience life without guilt, retribution, or fear that you are a trouble to others. Learn to accept openly and with love all that you create, including any decisions you generate.

Louise Hay’s affirmation/new thought pattern:
I move beyond old limitations and now allow myself to express myself freely and creatively.

Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid)
You might feel like there is never enough time to get everything done. Constant rushing, inability to organize yourself. Stress to achieve. Feeling that if you don’t get things done, the world will collapse. Constant guilt about not doing more. Always there for everyone except yourself. Rage at being left out.

Louise Hay’s affirmation/new thought pattern:
I am the center of life and I approve of myself and all that I see.

Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
A possible ‘I can’t be bothered’ attitude. Muddled thinking. Fatigue. Carrying too many burdens. Feeling worn out, emotionally unstable, exhausted. Difficulty communicating. Holding back. Taking the back seat and allowing others to make important decisions. Everything feels like too much effort.
Lack of drive. Giving up. Feeling hopelessly stifled.

Louise Hay’s affirmation/new thought pattern:
I create a new life with new rules that totally support me.
